LINEAGE

Corofino, the very successful Holsteiner sire is still performing successfully for Italy today as a showjumper. At his stallion performance test in 1992 at Medingen, Corofino finished in performance rating I and demonstrated his phenomenal jumping ability (scoring 10.0).  As a 4-year-old he won showjumping competitions and in 1994 he competed in the finals of the Federal Showjumping Championships in Warendorf. He won a series of elementary and medium showjumper competitions scoring top results of up to 9.6.  In 1999, Corofino was ranked 1st in Pferd+Sport magazine as a producer of jumper horses. In the Younger stallion ranking, Corofino placed 1st in breeding values for the sport, ahead of 2nd place Lordship and 3rd ranked Riverman.  Corofino enjoys special status among the numerous sons of Corrado I in terms of the correctness of his foundation.

Corrado I is from the absolute proven cross of Cor de la Bryere and Capitol. Cor de la Bryere, a great name in Holsteiner breeding and considered one of the most important foundation sires of the 20th century, is respected for producing offspring with unquestionable jumping ability and rideability while the Capitol line is known for sheer level-headedness. Corrado I was the 1994 German Showjumping Champion.  He won several international Grand Prix including Aarhus, Kiel, and Dortmund (twice).  In 1996 he placed 5th in the World Cup final. Corrado I is considered a world-class sire and has produced many horses jumping at the highest international level; by 2001 13 of his offspring had made it to international show jumping level.  He was recently ranked by the WBFSH International Breeding Guide as the world's 14th best sire for showjumping. Regarded as devoid of Ladykiller xx blood, Corrado I has been invaluable for upgrading the partly impoverished blood basis of Holsteiner mares.

Romino, is by Ramiro, Holstiner stallion and one of the most influential sires in European breeding history.   Romino is considered one of Ramiro’s most notable sons. Ramiro was the most popular distributor of the Ramzes (More Ramzes info) blood and the most frequented sire in Germany. He stood at stud in Westfalia, Holstein, Zangersheide and Holland. Numerous sons and daughters conserve and pass on the valuable genes that stand for rideability and jumping talent. Therefore, it is not a surprise to find Ramiro's children and grandchildren at the top levels of showjumping and dressage. (More Ramiro info)  Romino has been praised for passing on jumping ability far above average.  He is a versatile stallion, siring offspring with international performance records.  Romino has presented seven approved sons to date. Apart from Rouletto, the vice-champion of the 1985 Holstein approval, he sired Rando, the multiple Grand Prix winner and Rolando, sire of Robert Dover's Olympic team horse Rainier. In addition to these he also sired several Federal Championship contestants and top-priced Holstein auction horses are part of the success story of this singular stallion who was bred via Ramiro and Moltke I.

Athlet Z, a Hanoverian stallion approved for breeding with every Warmblood registry, is known for producing horses with incredible jumping talent and style.  His pedigree combines two of history's most prolific sires of showjumpers: Alme' and Gotthard.   Athlet Z has sired many international showjumpers and produced a number of approved stallions.

SPECIAL NOTES

Coromino is representative of his classic Holsteiner foundation, conforming to the traditional ideals of the breed.   The traditional Holsteiner is a bay horse often found with no or few white markings. He is well balanced, between 16 and 17 hands, with round, generous strides and a natural, elastic movement.  A lovely head with large, kind eyes is carried on a beautifully arched and well set neck, rising upward out of his withers, producing elegance, lightness and self-carriage

“I have liked this stallion ever since I paid a visit to GW Ranch. a couple years ago. I could not get him off my mind. Perfect type, perfect temperament, and talented to boot.  .… [I] have sent a number of people to him when I thought our stallions were not the right match. As a matter of fact, whenever someone asks me about jumper stallions in North America other than Iroko, Judgement and Coromino are always the first two names to come out of my mouth….And, have no fear, fellow Dutch horse enthusiasts; Coromino fits into our Dutch breeding program. He may be an Oldenburg approved stallion, but think about the influence that the horses in his pedigree have had on Dutch breeding. ....[T]his horse will be a dressage super star on top of his success as a young jumper" - Scot Tolman
